Items
- Angry Earth Coating
- Angry Earth Ward Potion
- Honing Stone
- Incense
- Blight Potion
You should always have blight potions when you are running Genesis. it is very easy to get blight during the Marl fight and because of the tick damage it does you won’t be able to trade someone else for them. The heal reduction effect of being blighted will also mean that your healer will have to ignore you for the most part.
Mobs
Mob types
The only type of mobs and bosses found inside the Garden of Genesis are Angry Earth.
Damage Type Effectivenesses
Angry earth are weak against Slash and Fire.
Damage Chart | Slash | Thrust | Strike | Fire | Ice | Nature | Void | Lightning | Arcane | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Angry Earth | +20% | - | +30% | - | - | - | - |
Genesis Archers
The archers deal a lot of damage and will do an evade shot style ability, jumping back from the person that has the aggro. For this reason, it is suggested that you group on the archers first and drag any other melee mobs onto them so that you can kill them all at the same time as you won’t be able to group the archers onto the melee mobs. The tank would generally stand on the side of the archer that you don’t want it to jump toward e.g. on the first bridge stand between the archer and the soldier to prevent the archer from jumping toward the soldier.
Genesis Soldiers
Soldiers have a defiant stance ability that makes them extremely tanky. The animation for this is that the soldier will slam his weapon onto the ground and then have a black glow. This buff can be cleansed with nullifying oblivion from a void gauntlet which is generally used by the healer. Their overhead slam ability can easily one shot low con players. It has an AoE that goes slightly behind the soldier as well as out in a straight line in front of the soldier.
Genesis Shaman
The shaman will spawn two minions that can be one-shot by anything. It is suggested that at a minimum you kill those spawns.
Genesis Fiends
The fiends can do a surprising amount of damage and also have a stagger on hit. Just group them and kill them quickly.
Bosses
There are three main bosses in Garden of Genesis.
Taxodius
Mechanics
- Summon Fiends
- Taxodius will reach into the ground and summon a Fiend.
- Tendril
- Taxodius will shoot tendrils at a ranged player and drag them towards him.
- Plant Spear
- Taxodius will throw a spear at a ranged player. This spear can do a large amount of damage to players in Light Armor.
Aluvium Marl, The Caretaker
Mechanics
- Slithering Arm
- Marl will turn and face a player at range, pull his arm back, and then shoot a vine at them. This does a decent amount of strike damage and knocks the player down.
- Vine Arena
- At 66% and 33% health, Marl will go to the centre of the room and summon a ring of vines around himself that traps players either in or out. Shortly after summoning the ring, Marl will attempt to use the End-of-Life ability, Muddy Roots Wipe.
- Vile Mushroom
- Marl will summon a small mushroom that can explode causing damage over time if it isn’t destroyed. If you kill the mushroom, you will gain a buff called Empowering Spores, that gives you 20% empower for 10 seconds. Anyone standing near you will also get this damage increase. The description says that this is a base damage increase but it is an empower as of writing.
- Muddy Roots Wipe
- Marl will gain a stamina bar and will begin to channel this ability. If the stamina bar is not broken within a few seconds, then they will instantly kill all players in the Expedition. Fun fact, in an M3, this attack does over 23 million strike damage.
- Summon Assistance
- While within the Vine Arena, Marl will summon several sets of mobs around the outside of the ring. A beam of light will appear where the next set of monsters will appear. These spawn locations rotate clockwise around the arena. These trash monsters are lower level than the rest of the foes in the expedition and can be dealt with quickly.
- Swamps Revenge
- Marl will dive underground and leap at a target, leaving a trail of Blighted water behind him. If you stand in the blighted water for too long, you too will get blighted. Marl isn’t invulnerable in this stage, area of effect (AoE) abilities can still damage him, and he can also be hit while above the ground in the diving animation. This attack deals a decent amount of strike damage.
- Boiling Bog
- Marl will reach down and throw forward a slow-moving wave of black water that will travel the length of the room. Boiling bog is counted as a ranged magical attack and deals massive nature damage. You can dodge through the wave.
- Bug Swarm
- Marl will create a swarm of green bugs that will move around the room dealing nature damage to any player within them.
The Blighted Greenskeeper
Mechanics
- Vile Infection
- The Greenskeeper will channel a green beam at a player at range that deals no damage. Once the channel is complete the player will leave behind a medium-sized circle of vile ground that will persist for awhile. This vile ground deals a large amount of nature damage.
- Overhead Smash
- The Greenskeeper will raise their arms and slam the ground in front of themselves dealing massive strike damage. A small dodge either side just as the greenskeeper is at the top of the attack will cause it to miss.
- Siren Scream
- The Greenskeeper leans forward and screams dealing massive nature damage in frontal cone.
- Homing Projectile
- Two small green orbs will spawn on the ground and slowly rotate around the arena dealing moderate nature damage to any player they hit. The puddles they leave also inflict poison and disease.
- Burrow
- The Greenskeeper will dive into the ground and move around the arena chasing down players at range. Upon arriving at the furthest player, their tail will burst from the ground and attempt to damage the player. This tail is also able to take damage so ranged players can continue to DPS. This attack deals a moderate amount of strike damage.
- Summon Assistance
- Trash mobs will occasionally join the fight and unlike the previous boss these are Level 66 but are not elite.
- Hurl Boulder
- Occasionally a small green ring will appear around a player. After a short delay a large boulder will drop from the sky dealing extreme amounts of damage. These boulders will persist and break line of sight with the boss. These boulders are used to block the damage from the scream wipe mechanic below.
- Vile Blast
- The Greenskeeper will begin to channel a room annihilating attack over eight seconds. At the end of the cast all players who are within line of sight of the boss will take fatal damage. All dropped boulders will also be destroyed by this ability.
